Victorian 14kt Graduated Banded Agate Bead Necklace 25.5"

A wonderful banded agate necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is comprised of a single strand of large banded agate beads, which form a long, striking necklace. The agate beads are slightly graduated, with the largest in the center, and all of them are smoothly polished and have magnificent coloring, with rich black and dark brown hues marbled with stripes of milky white. The necklace is hand strung on heavy dark brown cord and fastens at the back with a large, modern 14kt yellow gold lobster clasp, though it slips easily on and off overhead when fastened. The clasp is stamped "14K." The simple yet attractive design is very wearable and would make a perfect everyday necklace. This eye-catching piece looks wonderful when worn and would make a fabulous addition to any collection!

Measurements: The entire necklace measures approximately 25.5" long. The beads range in size, with 10.25mm being the smallest and 17mm being the largest.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is some normal surface wear to the banded agate beads, including a few very minor chips and some naturally occurring crazing, however, nothing that is noticeable when the necklace is worn. The stringing is in excellent condition and the modern lobster clasp is secure and in good working condition.
