The Story
The opposite of a cameo, an intaglio is created by carving below the surface to produce an image in relief with the purpose of pressing into sealing wax.
An incredible estate era, designer-made intaglio ring! This bold ring is made of vibrant 18k yellow gold and features an oval onyx stone bezel set at the center. The onyx displays a carved intaglio image, which shows the portrait head of a Greek or Roman figure shown in profile. The carved detail is very intricate, including a decorative headpiece and delicate facial features. The onyx has a rich, bold black color that looks excellent within the yellow gold mounting. The shoulders of the ring boast a greek pillar-style motif. The shank of the ring is marked with a series of maker's marks and purity stamps including, "VAHE NALTCHAYAN", and "1987 USA 18KT" A fabulous intaglio ring, it would look wonderful worn by a man or woman and would make an incredible addition to any collection!
